Product Overview
Ponni Rice (Raw/Steamed/Boiled) Ponni Rice is a variety of rice developed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 1986. It is widely cultivated in Tamilnadu a state in India, and is a hybrid variety of Taichung65 and Myang Ebos 6080/2.
Detailed Information
This is thin, medium grain rice without any chalky rice. This rice is a popular variety of South India. The rice when cooked is soft and separate and swells / expands only lengthwise. Parboiled rice, also called converted rice, is partially precooked in its inedible husk before being processed for eating.
In some Asian and African countries, people have been parboiling rice since ancient times as it makes the husks easier to remove by hand. Parboiling happens before rice is milled, that is before the inedible outer husk is removed to yield brown rice but before brown rice is refined to make white rice.
Product Features
This rice is more resistant to starch which helps lower glucose levels and improves insulin sensitivity. It may also offer more plant compounds, support gut health, and raise blood sugar less than regular white rice
